Creating an account takes less than a minute. Follow these steps:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/register.
2. Enter your email address and create a password (minimum 8 characters).
3. Alternatively, click Sign in with Google to use your Google account for instant registration.
4. After signing in, you will be taken to the Onboarding screen where you choose your account type: Individual or Company.
5. You will then be redirected to the Avatar Creation Wizard to build your first AI avatar.

Tip: If you received an invitation via a magic link, simply click the link in the email — no separate registration is needed.

AvatarMatch supports several sign-in methods:

Option 1: Email and password

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/login.
2. Enter your email and password.
3. Click Sign In.

Option 2: Google sign-in

1. On the login page, click Sign in with Google.
2. Select your Google account in the popup.
3. You will be signed in automatically.

Note: After signing in, you'll be redirected to the Avatar Wizard if you don't have an active avatar, or to your Dashboard if you do.

AvatarMatch offers two account types to fit different needs:

Individual account

• Designed for personal use: dating, friendships, networking, freelance team building.
• Up to 3 active projects and 50 AI simulations/month.
• Access to matching, events, and the test library.
• Ideal for freelancers, students, and individuals.

Company account

• Designed for organizations: hiring, team building, corporate events.
• Unlimited projects and unlimited simulations.
• Advanced features: detailed export reports, team management, priority support.
• Ideal for HR departments, startups, and agencies.

You select your account type during onboarding (right after registration). You can change it later from Dashboard → Settings.

After creating your account, you'll go through a quick onboarding process:

1. Choose account type — Select Individual or Company depending on your goals.
2. Avatar Creation Wizard — You'll be redirected to the wizard where you create your first AI avatar step by step (basic info, personality tests, bio, and more).
3. Start exploring — Once your avatar is created and activated, you can begin matching, join events, or explore the platform.

Tip: Each wizard step is saved when you press Save on it, and test answers are kept on this device until you save the test. You can leave and come back anytime — just go to avatarmatch.app/wizard to continue.

If you forgot your password, you can reset it in a few steps:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/forgot-password.
2. Enter the email address associated with your account.
3. Click Send reset link.
4. Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for the reset email.
5. Click the link in the email to set a new password.

Note: If you signed up with Google, you may not have a password set. In that case, sign in with Google or request a magic link. You can also add a password from Dashboard → Security.

Your AI avatar is a digital representation of your personality, built from your answers to psychometric questionnaires. It captures your character across 16+ dimensions including:

• Core personality traits — HEXACO model (honesty, emotionality, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness).
• Values and beliefs — What matters to you in life and work.
• Communication style — How you prefer to interact with others.
• Interests and preferences — Hobbies, cultural tastes, lifestyle choices.

Your avatar is used to:

• Match you with compatible people based on deep personality analysis.
• Interact with other users' avatars so they can preview compatibility.
• Generate your AI Profile — a comprehensive personality summary.

Important: Your avatar reflects your honest test answers. The more authentic your responses, the better your matches will be.

Avatar creation happens through a guided step-by-step wizard:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/wizard or click Create Avatar from your Dashboard.
2. Complete each wizard step in order (see "What are the avatar wizard steps?" below for details).
3. On the final Review step, check all your information and click Activate Avatar.
4. Your avatar will be built and activated automatically.

Key points:

• Each step is saved when you press Save on it, and a test's answers are kept on this device until you save the test — you can leave and return anytime.
• To continue an incomplete wizard, go to avatarmatch.app/wizard.
• The full process takes 25–40 minutes, mostly for the personality tests.
• Before activation every step needs its minimum — for the tests, core tests at 70%, weighted by test. The wizard lists what is still missing under the locked Review step.

The avatar creation wizard consists of 9 steps:

1. Basic info — Your name, age, and primary information.
2. Tests — Complete psychometric tests (HEXACO and others). This is the most important step for accurate matching.
3. Media — Upload a profile photo and optional media files.
4. Bio — Detailed personal information: education, career, hobbies, lifestyle, interests (books, films, music), languages, and more.
5. Texts — Free-form text descriptions and personal essays that give depth to your profile.
6. Interviewer — AI-powered interview that asks additional questions to enrich your avatar.
7. Persona — Fine-tune how your avatar communicates: tone, style, verbosity preferences.
8. Communication — Set your communication preferences: how you like to interact, response style, boundaries.
9. Review — Review all entered information and activate your avatar.

Tip: Fill out as many fields as possible. The more data your avatar has, the more accurate your matches and AI profile will be.

Manage all your avatars from the Dashboard:

1. Go to Dashboard.
2. You'll see a table of all your avatars with their status (active, draft, inactive).
3. For each avatar, you can:
   • Activate — Make it your primary active avatar for matching.
   • Edit — Return to the wizard to update information.
   • Deactivate — Temporarily disable the avatar without deleting it.
   • Delete — Permanently remove the avatar and all associated data.

Use the filter controls to sort avatars by status, creation date, or other criteria.

Warning: Deleting an avatar is permanent and cannot be undone. All test results, matches, and conversations linked to that avatar will be lost.

Every time you update your avatar (retake tests, edit bio, change preferences), a new version is created. This gives you a history of how your avatar has evolved.

To view version history:

1. Go to Dashboard → History.
2. Browse your avatar versions sorted by date.
3. Compare differences between versions.

Version history helps you:

• Track how your personality profile has changed over time.
• Understand which changes affected your compatibility scores.
• Revert changes if needed (by contacting support).

Your AI Profile is a comprehensive, AI-generated summary of your personality based on all data in your avatar. To view it:

1. Go to Dashboard → AI Profile.
2. Read your synthesized personality report covering traits, strengths, communication style, and more.

The AI Profile is available only when you have an active avatar with completed tests. When you change your avatar's data, the AI Profile is not updated automatically — the avatar is flagged as needing a rebuild, which you trigger manually (see ‘How do I refresh or rebuild my avatar?’).

Note: Your AI Profile is visible to your matches (after identity reveal) and can be shown on your public avatar page if you enable public visibility.

Refreshing your avatar recalculates your personality model using the latest data. To refresh:

1. Go to Dashboard.
2. Find your avatar and click the Refresh option.
3. Alternatively, go to the wizard with ?mode=refresh to update specific sections.
4. Your avatar will be rebuilt with any new or updated information.

Note: When you change your avatar's data, it is flagged as needing a rebuild — shown by a status indicator on your profile, the avatar library, and the public avatar page. Each rebuild consumes tokens and is limited to a number of rebuilds per period: once you hit the limit, a message shows when the next rebuild becomes available. Check your usage dashboard to monitor rebuild costs.

AvatarMatch uses a set of psychometric questionnaires built on models from published psychology research. Some of them — the HEXACO-style personality questionnaire, the attachment questionnaire and the conflict-styles questionnaire — are our own versions, not the published instruments, and have not been validated the way those were:

• Personality (HEXACO-style) — The core questionnaire measuring 6 major personality dimensions (Honesty-Humility, Emotionality, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience).
• Values Assessment — Measures your core life values and priorities.
• Communication Style — Identifies your preferred communication patterns.
• Interest Inventory — Captures your hobbies, cultural preferences, and lifestyle interests.

HEXACO is a personality model from published research that describes six core dimensions:

1. H — Honesty-Humility: Sincerity, fairness, modesty, and greed avoidance.
2. E — Emotionality: Fearfulness, anxiety, dependence, and sentimentality.
3. X — Extraversion: Social self-esteem, boldness, sociability, and liveliness.
4. A — Agreeableness: Forgiveness, gentleness, flexibility, and patience.
5. C — Conscientiousness: Organization, diligence, perfectionism, and prudence.
6. O — Openness to Experience: Aesthetic appreciation, inquisitiveness, creativity, and unconventionality.

The model adds Honesty-Humility to the five factors of the Big Five. Our questionnaire is our own set of 100 questions on this model, not the HEXACO-PI-R inventory of the model's authors, so its scores cannot be compared with published norms.

You can take tests in two ways:

During avatar creation (recommended):

1. In the Avatar Wizard, navigate to the Tests step.
2. Select a test from the list of required and optional tests.
3. Answer each question honestly on the provided scale (e.g. 1–5 or Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree).
4. Submit the test — results are saved automatically to your avatar.

From the Tests Center:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/tests.
2. Browse available tests and select one.
3. Complete the test following on-screen instructions.
4. Results will be linked to your avatar automatically.

Tip: Answer all questions honestly — there are no right or wrong answers. The accuracy of your matches depends entirely on the authenticity of your responses.

Each test shows how many questions it has and roughly how long it takes — on its card in the wizard and in the Tests Center, and at the top of the test itself. The estimate allows about 7 seconds a question. Most tests take a few minutes; the longest are HEXACO (100 questions), Big Five (60) and the English test.

For the wizard you do not need every test: its Tests step counts once your core tests reach 70%, weighted by how much each test adds. The context-pack tests are optional.

Tip: While you take a test, your answers are kept in this browser, on this device, until you save the test — a reload does not lose them, and signing out clears them. A saved result belongs to your avatar and is there on any device; answers you have not saved stay on the device where you gave them.

Yes, you can retake any test at any time:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/tests or open the Tests step in your avatar wizard.
2. Select the test you want to retake.
3. Complete all questions again.
4. Your avatar will be updated automatically with the new results.

Recommendations:

• Wait at least 6 months between retakes — personality traits are relatively stable over shorter periods.
• Retake if you feel your original answers were not authentic or if significant life changes have occurred.
• After retaking, your compatibility scores with existing matches may change.

Important: Retaking a test overwrites previous results. The old version is preserved in your avatar version history.

Our questionnaires are built on models from published psychology research, but several of them are our own versions, and we have not measured their reliability or validated them on a population. Read a result as a description of how you answered, not as a measurement against other people.

One check is built in: the personality questionnaire has control questions, and a result they mark as unreliable is not used for matching or forecasts until you retake the test.

Factors that affect accuracy:

• Honesty — Answer authentically, not how you think you "should" answer.
• Focus — Take the test when you're focused and not rushed.
• Consistency — Complete all tests in one session if possible.

No questionnaire is fully accurate: treat a compatibility figure as a hint, not a verdict.

After completing tests, your results are used in several ways:

1. Avatar Profile — Results feed directly into your AI avatar, shaping how it represents you.
2. AI Profile — View a synthesized personality summary at Dashboard → AI Profile.
3. Compatibility Scores — Results are compared against other users' avatars to calculate match percentages.

Each score dimension is measured on a scale. There are no "good" or "bad" scores — every personality configuration has its strengths. What matters is how your profile complements others.

Tip: Your AI Profile provides the most readable summary of what your test scores mean in practice.

AvatarMatch uses AI-powered personality analysis to find compatible people. Here's how it works:

1. Your AI avatar's personality data (from tests, bio, preferences) is analyzed across 16+ dimensions.
2. Our algorithm compares your profile against other users, evaluating:
   • Values alignment — Do you share core values and life goals?
   • Communication compatibility — Do your interaction styles mesh well?
   • Emotional compatibility — How well do your emotional patterns complement each other?
   • Complementary traits — Where do your differences create positive balance?
3. Each potential match receives a compatibility score (0–100%) with detailed reasoning.
4. You review matches and decide whom to connect with.

Key insight: We don't just match by similarity. Research shows the best relationships involve a mix of shared values and complementary differences.

To begin matching, you need an active avatar with completed tests. Then:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/matching from the main menu.
2. The Matching tab shows the search interface with filters.
3. Set your preferences (location, age range, compatibility threshold, etc.).
4. Browse through recommended matches.
5. Click on a match to see their compatibility analysis and personality summary.
6. Express interest to initiate a connection.

The Matched tab shows people you've already connected with.

Each card shows compatibility as a band, not a percentage. Behind it is an estimate from 0 to 100 that mixes four parts with weights we set by hand for each category:

• Personality tests — how close the two of you are on the tests you have both taken. The card says how many that is ("based on 3 shared tests").
• Shared values — how many of the values you each picked you have in common. Sharing a value never counts against you.
• Interests & style — how alike your profiles read: interests, work, what you wrote about yourselves and your test summaries.
• Their profile filled in — how much of the other person's profile and tests is there to compare.

The bands:

• Strong match — 80 or more.
• Good match — 70 to 79.
• Possible match — 55 to 69.
• Weak match — under 55. Search does not show people below 55; you may see this band only for event participants.

A part nothing is known about — no test in common, no values on one side — is shown as "not enough data" and left out of the estimate rather than counted as half.

Important: this is a rough estimate, not a prediction: the weights were not learned from real outcomes, and a few points either way mean nothing. Read the reasons on the card, not just the band.

Anonymous matching protects your identity until both parties are comfortable:

1. When you receive a match, you see their personality summary and compatibility analysis — but not their real name, photo, or personal details.
2. You can chat through avatars to get to know each other based on personality alone.
3. Only when both people click "Reveal Identity" do full profiles become visible.

Why anonymous matching?

• Removes appearance bias — focus on personality first.
• Encourages authentic communication without social pressure.
• You stay in full control of when and what you share.

Revealing your identity is a mutual, two-way process:

1. During a conversation with a match, look for the "Reveal Identity" button.
2. Click it when you're ready to share your full profile.
3. Your match will be notified that you've chosen to reveal.
4. Only when the other person also clicks "Reveal Identity" will full profiles be exchanged.

After both reveal:

• You can see each other's full profiles including name and photos.
• You can exchange contact information.
• The platform provides safety tips for first meetings.

Important: Identity reveal is irreversible. Once both parties reveal, you cannot return to anonymous mode for that match.

To start a conversation with a match:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/matching.
2. Switch to the Matched tab to see your connections.
3. Click on a match to open their profile.
4. Click Chat or navigate to the conversation directly.

Chat features:

• Text messaging with your match.
• Avatar-mediated conversations (while anonymous).
• Identity reveal option when ready.

Chat conversations are accessible at /matching/chat/{matchId}.

Manage all your matches from the Matched tab:

1. Go to avatarmatch.app/matching.
2. Switch to the Matched tab.
3. Here you can:
   • View compatibility details for each match.
   • Open conversations with active matches.
   • Accept or decline pending match requests.

Match requests can also be managed from the dedicated accept page when you receive notifications about new matches.

Every match — a chat, a request you sent, a request you received — has a ⋮ menu at the top of its page:

• End match closes the chat for both of you. The other person is told that the match has ended, not why. On a request, the same item withdraws it (if you sent it) or declines it (if you received it).
• Block ends the match as well, and from then on neither of you appears in the other’s search or can send the other a request. The other person is not told that you blocked them. A block cannot be undone for now.
• Report sends what happened to our moderators: choose a reason and, if you like, describe it. A report also blocks the person unless you untick that option. Nobody is ever told who reported them.

A moderator reviews every report. If you are in danger, contact the local emergency services first. You can also write to us at support@avatarmatch.app.

AvatarMatch has three personal plans. They differ in how many AI conversations you get a month and in how often you can update your avatar:

• Free — about 20 conversations a month, an avatar update once a month.
• Starter ($29/month) — about 200 conversations a month, an avatar update up to once a week.
• Professional ($99/month) — about 1,000 conversations a month, an avatar update once a day.

Everything else is the same on every plan: matching works the same way, you can send 5 match requests a month, and anyone can create and join events. Companies buy a company plan instead — see the company tab at avatarmatch.app/pricing.

Details: underneath, a plan is counted in AI tokens — 0.1M, 1M and 5M a month — and the conversations are our estimate of what that buys, at about 5,000 tokens for a conversation with an avatar. See what counts as a conversation.

Tip: Start with the Free plan to explore the platform. Upgrade anytime from Dashboard → Billing.

Plans are shown in conversations a month, because that is what you do with them. Underneath, AI use is counted in tokens — small pieces of the text the AI reads and writes — and the conversations are our estimate of what a plan's tokens buy: about 5,000 tokens for one conversation with an avatar.

What uses tokens:

• Conversations with avatars — talking to someone's avatar, and the replies your avatar sends in connected chats.
• Forecasts — the conversations between avatars the AI simulates.
• Avatar builds — putting your avatar together from your tests and profile.

A long conversation counts for more than a short one, and a forecast or an avatar build for more than a conversation. Searching for matches uses none: no AI model is called for it.

The budget comes with every plan, Free included, and starts again on the 1st of each month (UTC). For more, move to a higher plan; extra tokens are not sold separately.

Open Dashboard → Billing & Statistics → Usage. There you see:

• What is left this month — about how many conversations remain, with the tokens behind them.
• This month, last month and in total — how much AI you have used.
• By feature — chats, searches, events and avatar updates.
• The operations log and the history by month.

When the month's budget is nearly used up, the page says so. Once it is used up, AI features pause until the 1st of next month (UTC) or until you move to a higher plan.

To upgrade your subscription:

1. Go to Dashboard → Billing.
2. Review available plans and their features.
3. Click Subscribe or Upgrade on your chosen plan.
4. You'll be redirected to Stripe (our secure payment processor) to enter payment details.
5. Complete the payment — your subscription activates immediately.

Already subscribed? Choosing another plan changes your current subscription — you are never billed for two. A higher plan starts at once for the prorated difference; Free starts when the paid period ends.

Payment methods accepted:

• Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
• Additional methods may be available depending on your region.

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. AvatarMatch never stores your card details.

You can cancel your subscription at any time:

1. Go to Dashboard → Billing.
2. Click Manage Subscription to open the Stripe customer portal.
3. Select Cancel Subscription.
4. Confirm the cancellation.

What happens after cancellation:

• Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period.
• After that, your account switches to the Free plan.
• Tokens are a monthly allowance, not a balance: from then on the Free allowance applies, and tokens already used that month count toward it.
• Your avatar and data are preserved — nothing is deleted.

Note: No partial-month refunds are issued for cancellations. If you need a refund, see our refund policy below.

Our refund policy is straightforward:

• Subscription refunds — Available within 14 days of purchase if you haven't used the included tokens.
• Token packages — Non-refundable once tokens have been used.
• Unused token packages — Refundable within 14 days of purchase.

To request a refund:

1. Send an email to support@avatarmatch.app.
2. Include your account email and reason for the refund.
3. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.

We implement enterprise-grade data protection:

• Encryption at rest — All data encrypted with AES-256.
• Encryption in transit — All connections use TLS 1.3.
• Infrastructure — Data stored in secure Google Cloud Firestore with multi-region redundancy.
• Data separation — Psychometric results are stored separately from personal identity data.
• Backups — Encrypted backups retained for 30 days.

Yes, AvatarMatch is fully GDPR compliant. Your rights include:

• Right to Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification — Correct inaccurate personal data.
• Right to Erasure — Request deletion of your data (see "How do I delete my data?").
• Right to Data Portability — Export your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to Object — Object to certain processing activities.
• Right to Restriction — Request limited processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights:

1. Go to Dashboard → Privacy for self-service options.
2. Or email our Data Protection Officer at privacy@avatarmatch.app.

We process data only with your explicit consent and for specified purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can export all your personal data at any time:

1. Go to Dashboard → Privacy.
2. Look for the Export Data or GDPR Request section.
3. Click Request Data Export.
4. Your data will be compiled and you'll receive a download link via email.

The export includes: profile information, test results, avatar data, match history, conversation logs, and usage records — all in a machine-readable format (JSON).

You have full control over your data deletion:

1. Go to Dashboard → Privacy.
2. Choose what to delete:
   • Delete avatar only — Removes your avatar and associated matches, keeps your account.
   • Delete test results — Removes psychometric data while keeping your account.
   • Delete entire account — Removes everything permanently.
3. Confirm your choice.

What to know:

• Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
• Processing takes up to 30 days.
• Some data may be retained for legal compliance (billing records, legal obligations).
• You'll receive email confirmation once deletion is complete.

You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@avatarmatch.app or through our Data Deletion page.

No, never. This is a firm commitment:

• Your personal data is never used to train AI models.
• Your test results are never used for AI training.
• Your conversations are never used for AI training.

We use third-party AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) with Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) that explicitly prohibit using customer data for model training.

Your data is used only to provide the service: creating your avatar, calculating matches, and powering conversations. Nothing more.

We minimize data sharing to essential service providers:

• Google Cloud (Firebase) — Infrastructure hosting and database.
• OpenAI / Anthropic — AI processing (with DPAs prohibiting training).
• Stripe — Payment processing (they only access billing data).
• Email providers — For transactional emails only.

We never:

• Sell your data to third parties.
• Share personal data for advertising purposes.
• Allow third parties to access your psychometric results.

All third-party providers are bound by strict data processing agreements. For full details, see our Data Processing Agreement and Privacy Policy.
