Data Deletion

Under Article 17 of GDPR ("right to erasure" / "right to be forgotten"), you have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. The full procedure is described below.

1. How to Submit a Deletion Request

You can request data deletion through any of the following methods:

  • Through account settings (recommended):
    Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm your decision. This is the fastest method.
  • By email:
    Send a request to privacy@avatarmatch.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include the email address associated with your account.
  • Via support:
    Contact support@avatarmatch.app with the same request.

2. What Happens After You Submit

  • 1 — Identity verification — We may request identity confirmation to prevent unauthorized deletion.
  • 2 — Request confirmation — within 3 business days — You will receive an email confirming receipt of your request.
  • 3 — Account deactivation — immediately — Your account is deactivated and becomes invisible to other users.
  • 4 — Data deletion — within 30 days — Most personal data is deleted from the date of request confirmation.
  • 5 — Backup removal — within 90 days — Data is removed from backup copies in accordance with backup rotation cycles.
  • 6 — Final notification — Upon completion, you will receive an email confirmation of data deletion.

3. What Data Will Be Deleted

  • Profile data (name, photos, biography, interests)
  • Psychometric data and test results
  • Message history and simulation history
  • Matching results and compatibility scores
  • Technical data and activity logs (within established retention periods)
  • Authentication and authorization data

4. Data That May Be Retained

Some data is retained due to legal requirements or legitimate interests:

  • Data Category — Retention Period — Legal Basis
  • Financial records — 10 years — Tax legislation
  • Security logs — up to 12 months — Fraud prevention
  • Legal dispute data — until case closed — Legitimate interests
  • Anonymized statistics — indefinitely — Aggregated, non-identifiable data

5. Canceling a Deletion Request

You may cancel a deletion request within 7 days of submission. Email privacy@avatarmatch.app with the subject "Cancel Deletion Request". After 7 days, cancellation is not possible.
