AI estimates about people
In projects and teams, AvatarMatch shows organizations estimates about people: how well someone fits a role, how they might fit with a team, and how a team might share effort in a simulated situation. This page says what those estimates are, and what they are not.
What is measured
- Fit for a role: the share of the role’s skills a person lists in their profile, and how close their test results (Big Five, HEXACO, DISC) are to the traits the role asks for. What cannot be read is shown as unknown, not guessed.
- Fit with a team: how a person’s test results and their work and communication style compare with each team member’s.
- Team forecasts: a game-theory model of how a group might share effort in a described situation, built from the members’ test results. It is a simulation, not an observation of anyone.
What is not measured
- Competence, experience or the quality of anyone’s work.
- Character, honesty, health, or anything the tests do not ask about.
- How a real person will behave: a forecast describes one modelled situation.
Known limitations
- The tests are self-reported: answers can be strategic, and people change.
- Skills are matched by the words in a profile; nobody checks them.
- The weights of the estimate were set by hand. They were not learned from hiring outcomes, and the estimate has not been validated as a predictor of how anyone will do in a job.
- A percentage looks precise. A difference of a few points means nothing.
A person decides
No estimate makes a decision. Inviting someone, putting them on a role or turning them down is done by people in the organization; an invitation that comes from the team follows the team’s own vote.
Who is estimated
An organization sees an estimate about someone from outside it only if that person allowed it in their privacy settings — it is off until they do. Colleagues in the organization and the members of a project’s team are estimated as part of their membership. Team forecasts include only people who allow simulations in their profile.
Disagree with an estimate?
If you are invited to a project or work on one, you can ask for a human review of the AI estimates about you — on the invitations page, or on the project’s page. The project owner is told at once, and the request is kept on record. For a team forecast, use the button in your forecast report.
